Writing directly to your disk — safe for long sessions.

Saved successfully

How it works

Three steps. Nothing else.

01

Choose where to save

Your browser asks for a file name and folder before anything else happens — the recording lands exactly where you choose.

02

Share your screen

Pick a tab, window, or your entire display. Mic and webcam join in automatically if you've left them switched on.

03

Stop and play instantly

Click stop and your file is already saved to disk. A preview appears right there so you can check it before doing anything else.

Why it's different

Built with nothing to hide.

🔒

Nothing leaves your browser

There's no server in the loop. Your screen, mic, and webcam are combined locally and written straight to your disk.

🚫

No account, ever

No sign-up, no email, no password. Open the page and start recording — that's the entire onboarding flow.

💸

Free, with no catch

Because there's no server cost to us, there's no reason to charge you, gate features, or push a "pro" tier.

Stable on long recordings

Your file is written in small chunks every second instead of piling up in memory, so hour-long sessions don't crash your tab.

Questions

Good to know

Does MergeCam upload my recording anywhere?

No. There is no server-side component at all. Your recording is composited and written directly to your own disk, entirely inside your browser tab.

Which browsers are supported?

MergeCam needs the File System Access API and MediaStreamTrackProcessor, which currently means a recent version of Chrome or Edge on desktop. Firefox and Safari don't support these yet.

Can I record without a webcam or microphone?

Yes — toggle either one off before you start, and MergeCam will record your screen and system audio only.

What file format do I get?

Recordings save as .webm, a widely supported open video format that plays natively in every modern browser and most media players.

Is there a recording time limit?

No hard limit. Since data streams to disk in small chunks rather than building up in memory, MergeCam is designed to handle long sessions safely.
